Digital Media merges advanced computing technologies and engineering with creativity in visual, aural and literary environments. This multidisciplinary enterprise represents a fundamental shift in how we engage computing to direct it towards the challenges of our society. The impact is felt beyond video games and digital arts, and resonates into almost every area of human discourse.
The Undergraduate Digital Media Minor Programs will establish a faculty focus on the intersections between the arts, technology, and computational sciences with scholars from across the university, including the Schools of Art, Music, Landscape Architecture and Mass Communication, Departments of Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and English, and the Center for Computation & Technology. Our research and creative projects will center on two primary topics: Intelligent and Responsive Systems (which include video games, training systems and simulation visualizations) and Collaborative Digital Media Art in visual, musical and literary forms.
