Pats on the Back:

Congratulations to Francisco Hung, Cain Department of Chemical Engineering and Center for Computation & Technology, for being chosen as one of the recipients of the 2014 Rainmaker Award for Research and Creative Activity.

The STE||AR Group is proud to announce that they have been accepted as a Google Summer of Code 2015 Mentor Organization. This is a great distinction that puts them on par with other world leaders in open source development. They are excited to begin working with students to submit proposals to work on HPX over the summer. You can find their blogpost about it here: http://stellar.cct.lsu.edu/2015/03/stear-group-accepted-as-a-gsoc-2015-mentor-org/

Upcoming Lectures:
-Hongchao Zhang, Louisiana State University, will give a Computational Mathematics Seminar lecture titled, “A Fast Algorithm for Polyhedral Projection” at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, March 10th in 1034 DMC.

-Yi Zhang, University of Tennessee, will give a Computational Mathematics Seminar lecture  titled, “Finite Element Methods for the Stochastic Allen-Cahn Equation with Gradient-type Multiplicative Noises” at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, March 17th in 1034 DMC.

Please Note:
-On November 7, 2014, Governor Jindal issued Executive Order BJ 14-16 that directed executive branch agencies including higher education to cease spending in support (non-personnel) categories. In response, LSU has developed operating guidelines to meet the spirit of the order through June 30, 2015 in support of the state budget. These guidelines apply only to expenditures using State appropriated funds that are included in the University's 2014-15 Operating Budget and so identified with a zero (0) in the sixth digit of the account number.

-Call for participation:  Red Stick Futurefest 2015. Contact Randy Dannenberg (rdannenberg@cct.lsu.edu).
