Abstract:
In order to simulate the observations of soon-to-come instruments in the sub-mm and infrared wavebands where the next big scientific break-throughs are expected we need to model many thousands of galaxies. Outgoing from a standard cosmological model and different galaxy formation models the effect of dust on every single galaxy has to be calculated with the code GRASIL in an embarassingly parallel way. I will present the challenges in porting an adapted version of this code on to the Grid as well as the results of our first production runs. The tool used was ASKALON, an Austrian workflow based middleware.
