CCT Unveils LSU in Second Life

Abstract:
Researchers within the LSU Center for Computation and Technology Cultural Computing Focus Area have spent the past semester creating LSU in Second Life, a popular virtual environment where users interact with each other through 3-D avatars. CCT will officially unveil LSU in Second Life and provide a virtual tour. The tour is open to media and interested participants.

Speaker's Bio:
Dr. Stephen David Beck is the director of the Laboratory for Creative Arts & Technologies (LCAT), and also Professor of Composition and Digital Music in LSU's School of Music. He received his Ph.D in music composition and theory from UCLA, and held a Fulbright Fellowship (1985) at the Institut du Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique (IRCAM) in Paris. His research interests include: immersive audio, data sonification, auditory display, sound diffusion, and interactive computer music.
