Baton Rouge --- The LSU Center for Computation and Technology, or CCT, and the AVATAR: Arts, Visualization, Advanced Technologies and Research Initiative will host a meeting on Monday, Nov. 24 for faculty and students interested in volunteering with SIGGRAPH: the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Graphics and Interactive Techniques. The meeting will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Johnston Room 338.

SIGGRAPH is the premier conference to showcase new developments in digital media, and the 2009 conference will take place in New Orleans, Aug. 3-7, 2009, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. LSU faculty with CCT and the AVATAR Initiative are working closely with SIGGRAPH 2009 conference organizers to recruit student volunteers for the event.

Nicolas Gonzalez, the chair for student volunteers at SIGGRAPH 2009, will attend the meeting to discuss the goals of the conference and the specific volunteer tasks. Students who volunteer will receive free admission to all parts of the conference and have the opportunity to experience SIGGRAPH while learning about the world of computer graphics, interactive systems and digital media.  Volunteering at the conference is a great opportunity for students to get involved with digital media initiatives and companies from around the world.
