Baton Rouge – The LSU Center for Computation & Technology announces the winners for the 2008 Red Stick International Animation Festival Awards. The winners received their prizes in an awards ceremony on the last day of the festival, Saturday, April 19.
The festival, which took place April 16-19, received 207 film submissions from 27 countries for the annual competition. The festival awarded prizes in five categories to showcase the best work of the festival.
The winners of the 2008 Red Stick International Animation Festival are:
• Best Animated Short Film – Student: “Tong,” by David Cellier, Florent Limouzin, Arnaud Real (France) and Ecole Supérieure des métiers Artistiques (ESMA.)
• Best Animated Short Film – Professional: “Une petite histoire de l'image animée,” by Joris Clerté (France) and Doncvoilà & Mikros Image.
• Best Music Video: “Whatcha Got?” by Rogier Wieland (Netherlands.)
• Best Animation for Young Audiences: “Who’s That Knock’n?” by Peter Hriso and Gigi Alandt (United States.)
• Best Experimental Animation/Visual Music – Professional: “Mercurius” by Brett Battey (United States) and DeMontfort University (United Kingdom.)
The award-winning films were shown during the festival as part of Red Stick’s “Best of the Fest” screenings. throughout the festival.
Red Stick International Animation Festival will next take place April 22-25, 2009. Red Stick will announce the 2009 categories and begin the call for submissions in August 2008 at the SIGGRAPH convention in Los Angeles.
