Geaux Tigers countdown begins Friday with former Saints Quarterback, American Idol, Rock Band® competition, and giveaways in East Baton Rouge Parish

Oct 29, 2010 – Play N Trade will celebrate a new store opening Friday, November 5, with an interactive, high-energy community event in East Baton Rouge Parish. The store, located at 9880 Bluebonnet Blvd.- between Highland & Burbank, will kickoff the festivities with the Saints Hall of Famer Bobby Hebert at 5:00 PM, with the event ending at 9:00 PM.

Community members will get the opportunity to meet Hebert the night before the LSU versus Alabama game. Not just for sports fans, in conjunction with Red Stick International Animation Festival, video gamers can compete in the Rock Band® play off competition for one spot to perform live on stage with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra at Video Games Live. American Idol Season 4 contestant Michael Liuzza will be there at 6:30 PM to challenge and perform with fans on Rock Band®.

In addition to trying out the latest games and newest features from the video gaming industry, the event includes a ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 PM with local civic leaders. Representatives from Baton Rouge’s EA North American Test Center will also be at the event to provide information on jobs in the gaming industry in Baton Rouge.

Play N Trade will be raffling off tickets for great prizes and proceeds raised will go to Project 14- a teen outreach program- spearheaded by the Healing Place Church, whose goal is to build out 14,000 square feet of children’s space in the HPC Arena.

There will be live gaming consoles for fans to try out new games, hourly prize drawings for Play N Trade gift cards, opportunities to win Xbox360 gaming systems, popular video games, t-shirts, along with other local business’ giveaways. There will also be several opportunities for attendees to win tickets to both the Red Stick International Animation Festival and Video Games Live. Wing Stop will be providing food, and refreshments will be served.
