Baton Rouge --- The LSU Center for Computation & Technology, along with the LSU Department of Computer Science, will host an IT Eminent Lecture Series on Friday, June 1, at 1:30 p.m. in Coates Hall Room 152.
The guest speaker is James Demmel., who is the Richard Carl Dehmel Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics at University of California – Berkeley.
In his lecture, Demmel will discuss “The Future of High-Performance Linear Algebra.†Demmel will explain that since mathematics is closely tied to science and engineering research, breakthroughs in linear algebra allow greater progress in those areas.
Demmel also will discuss recent success stories in mathematics that are aiding software development and computational technology.
