Pats on the Back:

• Mayank Tyagi gave a talk on April 13, 2012 at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Richland, WA. The talk addressed simulations of a variety of subsurface porous media flow processes at different length scales. This visit also explored building long-term collaborations between LSU and PNNL (Fundamental & Scientific Computations Directorate) in the areas of high performance computing applications to challenging problems.

• Jorge Pullin was invited to speak at the University of North Carolina Wilmington on April 12-13. He gave two talks titled, "Quantum gravity: An incomplete revolution in physics" and "Loop quantum gravity: Status and recent results for cosmology and black holes."

Lectures this Week:

There will be a Core Expertise Faculty Candidate lecture titled, “Speeding Up Nek5000 with Autotuning and Specialization” by Jaewook Shin, Hewlett Packard. The lecture will take place Friday, April 20^th at 10:30 AM in 338 Johnston Hall.

Prior approval could take up to two weeks, so please plan accordingly.
