BATON ROUGE – Ed Seidel, director of LSU’s Center for Computation & Technology, or CCT, is the new discipline research representative for the Internet2 Board of Trustees.
Internet2 is an advanced networking consortium led by the research and education community. Internet2 operates a next-generation nationwide network that that connects more than 50,000 research and education institutions in the U.S. The network enables more robust collaboration at greater speeds than traditional networking allows. LSU is connected to the Internet2 Network through the Louisiana Optical Network Initiative, or LONI. Seidel is chief scientist for LONI.
In his role as discipline research representative, Seidel will help advise the board on strategic directions for the academic partners of Internet2.
Internet2 members elected the Board of Trustees, which represents leaders from academia, research and industry. The board provides strategic guidance, directs the setting of priorities and ensures that Internet2 continues to meet the needs of the research and education community it serves.
