Red Stick International Animation Festival, now the largest event of its kind in the United States, received a record number of entries for its fifth annual “Best of the Fest” competition, with more countries more participating.
The festival received 403 films from 45 countries for this annual event that highlights the intersections among art, technology and computational science.
Since the first festival in 2005, Red Stick typically received between 200 and 250 films for the animation competition, with participants from nearly 30 countries submitting original, animated work.
The numbers for the 2009 submissions, which the festival accepted from Sept. 1, 2008, through Jan. 2, surpass all previous records.
